Player of the week: Bow’s Conner Lorenz

Sunday, May 14, 2017

There’s nothing quite like a walk-off hit. Just ask Bow High School’s Conner Lorenz, who picked up his first Monitor Player of the Week Award after the senior outfielder lifted the Falcons to pair of wins in his final at-bats.

It started for Lorenz on May 8 against Hollis-Brookline. Coming to the plate with two doubles under his belt already, Lorenz made the home fans happy with a walk-off, two-run single to give the Falcons a 6-5 win.

Still reveling in the game-winner, Lorenz added another for an encore a few days later on May 11. Stuck in a 2-2 tie with Sanborn, Lorenz again came up clutch, providing the walk-off single to propel Bow to its fifth win on the season.

Lorenz’s heroics helped him edge Newfound softball’s Julianne Marchand (6-for-7, grand slam, 9 RBI in two wins), Hopkinton girls’ lacrosse’s Lyndon Flangan (14 goals, 11 assists in 3 games) and Merrimack Valley baseball’s Brian Nylen (14 IP, 1 R, 6 H in 2 games) for this week’s award.
